Per la prima volta dopo tanti anni sono venuto a conoscenza che la miniera di Marcinelle era quella in cui io ho lavorato in “avanzamento” all’età di 22 anni sino ad Aprile del 1956 per rientrare in Italia e partire per l’America come marinaio. per me rivedere le immagini della miniera mi ha procurato una forte emozione e il pensiero dei miei compagni deceduti mi ha scioccato. Non credevo che fosse la stessa miniera in cui avevo lavorato per cinque mesi. devo la mia salvezza al richiamo del mare e al solerte interessamento di mia sorella Angela che mi ha procurato un contratto con una compagnia di navigazione.

I understand the importance in preserving our history. In fact, my ancestors are imigrants, they came from the Veneto Province. I would like, on the other hand, to have been asked for permission first before they publish my family’s photos on the website. Apart from that, everything is fine.

That couple in the photo above are my ancestors and their children, I have that same photo here in my house. I know who they are.
The question is… how did this website get hold of this photo?
